چکیده

Laser metal deposition (LMD) is an additive manufacturing process in which a powder or wire added to laser-induced molten pool. This localized of material used for the manufacturing, modification, and repair wide range components. The use as feedstock offers various advantages over terms contamination environment, utilization rate, ease handling, price. However, achieve stable well defined geometrical microstructural properties many layers, precise knowledge on effects input variables resulting characteristics required. In this work, melt pool temperature was parameter LMD with coaxial feeding stainless steel, made possible through dedicated closed-loop control system based pyrometry. Initially, determined different conditions obtained. Within range, cause-effect relationships between geometry were investigated individual weld beads. It found that positively correlated width bead dilution. addition, dependence microhardness distribution cross section demonstrated, increased negatively affecting hardness.

Online Melt Pool Temperature Control for Laser Metal Deposition Processes

Melt pool temperature is of great importance to deposition quality in Laser Metal Deposition processes. To control the melt pool temperature, an empirical process model describing the relationship between the temperature and process parameters (i.e., laser power, powder flow rate, and traverse speed) is established and verified experimentally. A general tracking controller using the Internal Mo...

Effects of Melt Pool Variables and Process Parameters in Laser Direct Metal Deposition of Aerospace Alloys

Despite considerable advances in of laser direct metal deposition (LDMD) process optimization, there is rather limited work reported on the effects of melt pool variables on the final deposit characteristics. This article considers the effects of process parameters and melt pool characteristics on the deposition of Inconel 718 powder on a Ti-6Al-4V thin wall. A 1.5kW diode laser and LDMD system...

Closed Loop Control of 3d Laser Cladding

In this paper, a heat input closed-loop control system based on infrared image sensing for 3D laser cladding is introduced. A high frame-rate (up to 800 frames/s) camera is installed coaxially on the top of the laser-nozzle setup. Complete of the infrared images of the molten pool can be acquired with a short nozzle-substrate distance in different scanning directions, eliminating the noise from...

Development of a Melt Pool Tracking Vision System for Laser Deposition

This paper chronicles the development of a vision system for tracking melt pool morphology in the laser metal deposition process. This development is to augment an existing temperature feedback control system. Monitoring both the temperature and shape of the melt pool is necessary because of the effects of local geometry on the cooling rate at the melt pool. Temperature feedback alone cannot ac...
